The Hitchcock Independent School District is pleased to announce it has received its Accountability Ratings from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) based on the 2021-22 school year.

Hitchcock ISD saw drastic improvements across the board, being just two and three points shy of ‘A’ ratings for the district’s overall rating and Hitchcock High School’s overall rating, respectively.

2022 TEA Accountability Ratings
Hitchcock ISD Overall: B (88)
Hitchcock High School Overall: B (87)
Crosby Middle School Overall: C (74)
Stewart Elementary School Overall: C (73)

Hitchcock Primary School is included in Stewart Elementary’s rating.

This is the first time Hitchcock ISD received TEA Accountability Ratings since the 2019-20 school year due to Disaster Declarations statewide because of COVID-19. At that time, district wide ratings were:

2020 TEA Accountability Ratings
Hitchcock ISD Overall: D (63)
Hitchcock High School Overall: D (68)
Crosby Middle School Overall: F (59)
Stewart Elementary School Overall: C (71)

TEA Accountability Ratings are based on a ‘A’ through ‘F’ letter grading scale. An ‘A’ is deemed Exemplary, ‘B’ is Recognized, ‘C’ is Acceptable, ‘D’ is In Need of improvement and ‘F’ is Unacceptable.

“We could not be more proud of the hard work from everyone in Hitchcock ISD over the last couple of years in getting us where we are today,” said Travis Edwards, Superintendent. “We know this is just a stepping stone in getting us to an ‘A’ rating across the board, but we are extremely grateful for the time and effort put forth by our staff, teachers, students, parents and community members who value the improvement of our district and the level of education we are providing here in Hitchcock.”
